the way to a heart is through the stomach ¦ Dr. Oetker

the title says it all… Valentine’s Day isn’t far away and I wanted to share a recipe with you that never fails to make someones heart burn (maybe it’s because of the amount of sugar or butter – but nevermind).


my sister would say that I’m brownie obsessed – but let’s face it: who isn’t? so when I thought about what to bake for my loved ones I immediately wanted to make some brownies – but not just normal brownies. for this special occasion we need something that fills your heart / tummy (which in my case is probably the same) up to the fullest but doesn’t take long to bake because you wanna spend aaaall of your time with your significant other.



therefore I went for the salted caramel brownies with a lovely rose top coat of white chocolate. I used my regular brownie recipe and just added a layer of soft caramel bonbons with a pinch of salt inbetween the chocolate layers:

100g butter
300g dark chocolate
100g milk chocolate

melt butter and chocolate in a small pan on low heat. make sure to stir all the time to not burn your chocolate. let it cool down for a bit.

4 eggs
200g sugar
1 tsp vanilla paste Dr. Oetker
2 pinches of salt
200g flour

mix all ingredients apart from flour with a mixer until light and fluffy. then add the cooled chocolate and mix until combined. add in the flour and give it a final whisk.


pour half of the batter into a 23x33cm brownie tin then add a layer of caramel bonbons and some fleur the sel. bake at 200°C for approx. 20 minutes. let them cool down completely before you cut them out with a cookie cutter or just make squares with a knife.




to use all of these delicious brownies, I took the leftovers from the heart shaped brownies and made cute little cake pops.


I just mashed the leftovers together, formed small balls and dipped them into this lovely pink icing or the cute sprinkles from Dr. Oetker – it’s the easiest thing in the world and your love will think it cost you a big effort to make them (EDIT: I thought it was the easiest thing in the world… turns out cake pops are annoying little things! it took me quite a while to form them AND make them stay on the stick without falling down… but in the end they’re cute anyway)
